It is conducted once a year by the National Testing Agency for admission to Class VI and Class IX. Because it is a national exam, where your child sits the test has no bearing on which Sainik School they can eventually join — a Tripura-based student can sit AISSEE at a nearby exam centre and, on the strength of their result, be offered a seat anywhere in the country under the all-India merit quota.
